"Small Biz Voice" piece on the benefits of supporting local businesses. Spending $100 at a big box store translates into $14 of local reinvestment, compared to $45 reinvested if that amount is spent at a locally owned business. The average 28-hour employee at Wal-Mart makes $11,000 a year.
