Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece about the expansion of Buckfield-based Oxford Networks' into Lewiston-Auburn, where it it plans to build a $15-$20 million fiber-optics network and to become an anchor of Lewiston's ambitious $20 million downtown redevelopment plan. According to CEO Rick Anstey of Oxford Networks, the telecommunication company's expansion is backed by extensive research, leading it to believe that business and residential customers will be attracted by what the company offers: local and distance telephone service and high speed Internet and cable television service. The Lewiston hub of the the company's fiber-optic network is scheduled to be finished this fall with limited service expected to begin early next year.
