Abstract

Article on redevelopment efforts for the former Eastern Fine Paper Co. mill in Brewer, noting that attempts to find a single tenant to take over the 405,000-square-foot mill were unsuccessful. Drew Sachs, director of economic development for the city, is now hoping to redevelop the building and 41-acre parcel of riverfront land as a mixed-use property. Sachs envisions a combination of light manufacturing, office space and retail shops, as well as space for artists and performers. First, however, environmental and structural obstacles must be overcome.
