Abstract

"Focus: Lewiston-Auburn" piece on Portland-based nonprofit Women in Need Industries (WINI), with a focus on Many Hands Industries (MNI), its for-profit subsidiary. WINI helps disadvantaged women in transition, many of them from African and Asian countries. The MNI project is aimed at forming a spice business in Auburn to help fund WINI, as well as creating affordable housing and daycare for the women who will work there. With comments by Shalom Odokara, executive director of WINI; and Roland Miller, economic development director for Auburn.
