Abstract

"Focus on Greater Portland Region" piece with an interview with Chandrika Sanyal, owner of the 22-year-old, Portland-based Whole Grocer, now part of the Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market chain. Until opening a larger market nearby, Whole Foods will operate out of the former Whole Grocer store on Marginal Way. Sanyal speaks of the increase in natural food products, the increase in local vendors of organic foods, how her store will merge with the Whole Foods Market, and how the natural food market in Portland and nationally has accelerated since she first opened her store.
