Abstract

"Focus on Transportation & Trade" piece with an interview with Jonathan Daniels, CEO of Bangor-based Eastern Maine Development Corp. He is second vice chair of the board of directors of the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce, a Canadian organization that represents businesses in four Canadian provinces. The "Atlantica" region, which also includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and upstate New York, represents some 43 million consumers and has the advantage of three Maine ports, container operations in Halifax, and opportunities in St. John, lending itself to a complementary transportation policy with Canada. A Reaching Atlantica conference in St. John in June will establish goals, including stemming the outmigration of youth. Daniels is in line to be president of the group in 2007.
