Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Maine Revenue Services, which currently has $220 million in uncollected taxes. Errol Dearborn, director of the compliance division, said unpaid individual income taxes make up the majority of the gap, approximately $128 million. Dearborn said this year an estimated 15,000 Mainers did not file a state income tax return, adding that the state is making greater use of computer databases to ensure compliance.
