Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Camden's Rob Eddy, of Robert H. Eddy & Associates. Eddy, working with his daughter, Grace, and two part-time employees, builds scale-replica models of boats that are hand carved and covered in precious metals. He apprenticed with a jeweler and in boat yards to hone the craft he began practicing at the age of 10. His latest work, an 18-inch replica of the 289-foot yacht "Maltese Falcon," owned by venture capitalist Tom Perkins, took 2,150 hours to complete and sold for roughly $100,000.
