Abstract

"Focus: Building & Real Estate" piece on the ambitious 10-year, $150 million expansion plan for Saddleback Ski Area outside Rangeley. Owner Bill Berry's plan includes more than 450 condos and timeshares, 160 house lots, a 100-room hotel and a 40-room inn, along with new ski trails and two ski lodges. The efforts are an attempt to not only expand the ski area, but to turn it into a four-season, outdoors-oriented resort. With comments by Mary Henderson, vice president of the Rangeley lakes Chamber of Commerce; Catherine Carroll, director of the Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC); and John Cannizarro, Saddleback's planning and development manager.
