Abstract

A volunteer committee at the Biddeford-Saco Chamber of Commerce & Industry is in the midst of a $180,000 branding campaign, with the hopes of recasting the twin cities as a vibrant business hub. Opponents fear the project will ignore Biddeford's history as a blue-collar community. The cities will be challenged to appeal to multiple markets and will have to work around the smelly Maine Energy Recovery Co. incinerator in downtown Biddeford.
