Abstract

"Capitol Letter" piece on how about 60 percent of unemployed Mainers are computer illiterate, prompting a proposal by Gov. John Baldacci to expand the state's seventh- and eight-grade laptop initiative to high school students. He said unemployed parents could also use the computers to go online and search for jobs. One obstacle is the lack of broadband access in rural areas.
