Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on a bill now before lawmakers to mandate liability insurance for all snowmobile owners. Supporters say that insurance would protect those injured and those who suffer property damage as well as protecting snowmobile operators from lawsuits. However opponents of the measure, such as the Maine Snowmobile Association, believe that the law would be difficult to enforce because people could cancel their insurance shortly after registering snowmobiles.
