Abstract

"Minding Your Business" piece on the value of the recreational fishing business to the Portland economy. 270,000 recreational anglers fished Maine saltwaters in 1996, 168,000 of them Maine residents. Most targeted striped bass, and Casco Bay is at the center of the state's striped bass fisheries.
