Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Sen Debra Plowman's proposal to close a loophole in Maine's circuit breaker rent relief program that allows Mainers to file for benefits under the program even if they are behind on their rent payments. She proposes that applicants be required to submit notarized letters from their landlords to prove that rent has been paid but Taxation Committee member Rep. Seth Berry is not convinced this measure is necessary.
