Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on opposition to new legislation that would allow the Maine State Lottery to sell tickets online as a result of the recent reversal of an interpretation of federal law that had banned online gambling. Although Maine State Lottery officials see online lottery sales as a way to reach younger customers, local store owners are concerned that they would lose sales and commissions from the state as a result of this legislation that will be considered by the Legislature at the end of the session.
