Abstract

A list of the largest Maine-based banks, ranked by total assets as of December 31, 2016 is presented. The five largest out of the eleven listed are, in descending order: Camden National Bank, Camden; Bangor Savings Bank, Bangor; Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Bar Harbor; The First National Bank, Damariscotta; and Machias Savings Bank, Machias. Note: In January 2017, the holding company Bar Harbor Bankshares completed its merger with Lake Sunapee Bank Group, the holding company for Lake Sunapee Bank.
