Abstract
Supermarkets can now get a Grocery Stewardship Certification, assessed by Manomet Inc, a Massachusetts-based non-profit, for establishing measures that lead to greater sustainability. What Bow Street Market in Freeport has done to achieve the certificate is featured. Savings attributed to sustainability measures are given. Employees are also engaged in the initiative. Studies have found that when employees are engaged in sustainability measures, businesses are 18% more profitable and 18% more productive. [images]
