Abstract

Article about the Wyeth family's Allen Island which has been turned into a learning lab and working waterfront. The dream began with Betsy Wyeth, the mother of Jamie Wyeth, who was the subject of the interview. Their foundation, Up East Inc. supports environmental and ecological research, preservation and education in mid-coast Maine. Recently the Wyeths have partnered with Colby College to allow students to study on the island.
