Abstract

Allagash Brewing Co. in Portland diverted corks and stainless steel leftovers from the waste stream as part of their sustainability efforts. The company is also a funder, along with the Maine Technology Institute, of the "Waste to Wares" initiative led by the Manufacturers Association of Maine which tries to assess how materials that end up in landfills can be recycled or repurposed. The project is in the early stages; interest was higher than expected.
