Profile of Betsy Biemann, CEO of Coastal Enterprises, Inc., a community development financial institution (CDFI) specializing in rural business development. The nonprofit corporation provides financial and business counseling services. Its financing has fueled the growth of more than 2,800 businesses. Biemann, who studied science, took on her role at CEI in 2016. She thrives on solving multiple problems at once and is committed to ensuring that CEI's activities support its overaching mission of creating good jobs, environmentally sustainable businesses, and broadly shared prosperity.
