Abstract

The Finance Authority of Maine, FAME, implemented a COVID-19 direct loan program to help small businesses who saw clients and jobs disappear during the pandemic. FAME collaborated with Maine lenders to provide limited-time direct loans and loan insurance, limiting the amount available for each borrower so that they could reach as many businesses as possible. The article discusses FAME's financial reserve and the next phase of its work.
