Abstract

Interview with three Maine bankers who reflect on the changing banking landscape. With the cooling of the housing market, banks are looking to other sources of revenue and growth. The interviewees are Laura Johnson, director of mortgage and consumer lending at Bangor Savings Bank; Kim Nason, senior vice president of retail banking at Machias Savings Bank; and Gregory Dufour, president and CEO of Camden National Bank. They discuss mortgage activity, how banks make money from home loans, and why a diversified revenue stream is important.
