Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on the failures of the mainstream press in covering the recent attacks on Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, by the political action committee the Club for Growth. Local media failed to note that the political action committee that came to her defense, the Main Street Partnership, is headed by Snowe's husband and former Maine governor John McKernan. In addition, local news outlets did not pick up a national story about Gov. John Baldacci's former residence in Washington, D.C., at a property with links to the religious right.
