Abstract

"this just in" piece reporting that Greater Portland Landmarks and WMPG, the University of Southern Maine's community-radio outlet are teaming up to celebrate the station's 30th anniversary. A highlight of the September 6 through 13 festivities includes a live remote broadcast, featuring Nate Schrock and Sara Cox, from atop the Portland Observatory on Munjoy Hill. Emily Wiederkehr, the observatory's site manager, said the observatory's history shares traits with that of the radio station, with both serving as a community gathering spot.
