Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on legislative races in Maine, mentioning that the media do a poor job in covering legislative candidates and their voting records, making it difficult for voters to make an informed choice. Tim Sullivan, spokesman for the Maine Green Independent Party, pointed to the casino referendum, in which every media outlet ran numerous stories on all aspects of the issue. In contrast, he said, most legislative races are relegated to a single story late in the campaign.
