Abstract

Profile of Ian Baker, author of "The Heart of the World," a true story of the search for the "hidden-lands" of Pemako, Tibet. Baker's successful exploration, underwritten by the National Geographic Society, became the subject of a documentary. Baker, whose family lives on Peaks Island, has spent the last 20 years in Kathmandu studying Tibetan Buddhism. He reads at Longfellow Books in Portland, Feb. 18.
