Abstract

Article on the French sport of freerunning, also known as Le Parkour, a new urban sport that is gaining popularity in the United States. The goal of the sport is to navigate urban obstructions in an acrobatic way. The most advanced Parkourists jump between rooftops in a single bound and execute handstands on high ledges. Chris Levesque practiced recently in Portland, running up a 10-foot wall near Canal Plaza. Nate Kingley and Luke Filipos, both 18, are also local Parkours.
