Abstract

"Art" piece on "Unveiling," an exhibit of art work by Sama Alshaibi and Joel Seah, two new Art faculty members at the University of Southern Maine (USM). Alshaibi gives voice to her Palestinian heritage in ten self-portrait giclee prints, as well as a personal narrative video entitled "Where Birds Fly." Seah's "Homo Depot" transforms two walls into a hardware store with signage that reveals anecdotes of gay couples' intentions for home improvement projects. "Unveiling" is being presented at the USM/Gorham Art Gallery through October 15.
