Abstract

Detailed article exploring the possibilities of turning the South Portland armory, vacant since 1996, into a multi-disciplinary arts center, with room for a performance-and-exhibition space, rehearsal rooms, and parking. Various developers have shown interest in the property, including Greg Boulos and the city of South Portland. With comments by Jessica Tomlinson, director of public relations at Maine College of Art; Mike Levine of Acorn Productions; David Shorette, treasurer of the Children's Theatre of Maine; and Charlie Hewitt, a local artist.
