Abstract
"This Just In" piece reporting that a hunger strike at the Maine State Prison in Warren ended on October 21. New restrictions in the Supermax, or Special Management Unit, were cited by some prisoners as the reason for the hunger strike. The new restrictions were enacted in the wake of a suicide by a mentally ill Supermax inmate, Ryan Rideout. Earlier this week, all visits to prisoners were cancelled for a week because of an undisclosed "incident at the facility."
