Abstract

"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece on the controversy surrounding the censorship of Robert Skoglund, host of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network's (MPBN) program, "The Humble Farmer." Until recently, Skoglund's show was a mix of old jazz recordings and wry comments on his life and times. Charles Beck, MPBN vice-president of programming, sent a certified letter to Skoglund prohibiting him from discussing political thoughts or ideas, and from mentioning corporations or commercial products. Skoglund, a 28-year veteran of the network, is protesting by saying nothing at all in between songs.
