Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on the Portland Tenant's Union (PTU), a group that is trying to change Portland's woeful affordable housing situation. Though it was started a year ago, the group still does not have a president or a board, nor has it begun to work on any specific housing issues. PTU did, however, sponsor a panel discussion on housing in October that was attended by 90 people, and it is poised to hold its first annual meeting November 14, and perhaps elect officers. With details about the personality conflicts, organizational problems and other difficulties that have plagued the fledgling union.
