Abstract

"Inside story" piece on artist Margaret Nomentana, who returned from Los Angeles in 1987 for a summer camp reunion and eventually built a house on Horseshoe Pond in Stoneham. She worked with Atlanta architects Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam to design a modern interpretation of a farmhouse. Scogin says "the house is about a movement that becomes a companion...as you move through it." The architects received the National AIA Honor Award of Excellence in 1999 for the project, which was built by Conforte Builders, Inc. of Lovell.
