Abstract

The author attempts to photograph Portland as legendary photographer Berenice Abbott might have. Abbott, who was drawn to Maine at the end of her life and died in Monson, once told Portland Magazine that "nobody's ever taken a good picture of Portland, because they let the lighthouses and lobster boats get in the way."
