Abstract

"12 Things You Didn't Know About the Victoria Mansion," including the mansion's abandonment from 1928-1941, when it lay empty; and the fact that it might have been the first home in Maine to boast central heat, extensive indoor plumbing, and a gas lighting system that worked with a switch. The Portland landmark cost about $100,000 to build in 1858.
