Abstract

"House of the month" piece on Sea Cliff, a mansion in Cape Elizabeth that was built in 1914 of local blue granite for Col. Samuel Grant Shartle, former commander of nearby Fort Williams, and his wife, the former Marion Carter Chapman, daughter of Charles Chapman, mayor of Portland from 1886 to 1888. It was sold several years ago, and after many improvements, is back on the market for $5.995 million. Five lighthouses are visible from the master suite on the third floor. Taxes are $35,044.
