Abstract

Of 5,000 boatbuilding jobs in Maine, an estimated 15 percent are held by women. Seven of these women were interviewed about their jobs, including Denise Click at Hodgdon Yachts in East Boothbay; Diane Hoffman, Cathy Thompson, and Michelle Larrabee at Sabre Yachts in Raymond; Maria Simpson, boatyard manager at Rockport Marine; Barbara Stainton, owner of the Cranberry Island Boatyard; and Ingrid Wilbur-Kachmar, part owner of Wilbur Yachts in Southwest Harbor.
