Abstract

Actress Irene Bedard would like to produce a movie based on the biography,"Molly Spotted Elk: A Penobscot in Paris," by Bunny McBride. The book recounts the story of Maine's Penobscot Nation and the 1920s Penobscot actress, dancer, musician, poet, and nightclub siren. Bedard, who has Maine and Native American roots, was the voice of Disney's "Pocahontas," and wants to make a movie that will not require "compromised truth."
