Abstract

The Sacred Heart School at 83 Sherman Street was built in 1927 and was sold in 2000 by the City of Portland to developer Peter Bass. Bass's company created eight loft spaces for purchase and use by visual artists. The artists and their backgrounds are presented. Featured are Wendy Kindred, Tracy Ginn, Joy LaBrie, Cathleen Mahan, David Itchkawitz, Joanne Felice Boucher, David Johnson, Michelee Leier, and Michelle Soulier. [images]
