Abstract

Architect John Calvin Stevens designed Frederick Walker's mansion, Channelside, in Cape Elizabeth, and from there Walker would sail to the Old Port and walk to Monument Square. Nearby soldiers would sleep on its lawn when Walker took vacations, which he did often, and Stevens designed a new house based on Channelside, which he shared with his wife, Daisy. Details.
