Abstract

An article on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ford, a part-time Maine resident and the elusive author of "Independence Day" and other works. The author conducted a telephone interview with Ford, who politely cut the talk short because he was working on a new novel in Montana. Undeterred, the author interviewed others who knew of Ford and visited his Maine home to fill in details about Ford's life.
