Abstract

Somchai (Sam) Sriweawnetr is now a Maine restaurateur, but in 1979, he was a personal chef for several U.S. Embassy staffers in Tehran, and he played a critical role in helping six Americans who had escaped the besieged embassy. His story is not told in the current blockbuster movie “Argo,” but his heroics are remembered by those involved. Sam is the owner and chef of Thai Blossom in Rangeley.
