Abstract

Susan Nixon, 31, of Deering Center, was crossing Baxter Boulevard near Payson Park in Portland with her dog when she fell into an uncovered manhole. Nixon managed to catch herself in the shaft and then slowly worked her way out of the hole. Police said that it was probable that a snowplow dislodged the cover.
