Abstract

A new state law that went into effect last fall allowed privately owned agency liquor stores to sell liquor to restaurants and bars, but six weeks later the Maine Liquor Commission proposed legislation that would deprive state licensed agency stores of such business -- The about-face in attitude demonstrates what some licensed agency stores and their lobbyists say is a governmental stance that doesn't allow the industry to plan effectively for the future because the state is unsure to what extent it wants to be in the liquor business -- Details
