Abstract

Ten years ago, Frank Gaziano, the owner of the National Distributors beer distribution company, donated the $50,000 bandstand that sits in Portland's Deering Oaks park. The recent proposed master plan for the park calls for the destruction of the bandstand, and its replacement with something more suited for the historic nature of the park. The proposal has hurt Gaziano, who says if he knew that the bandstand would one day be unwanted he would have given it to South Portland instead. Details.
