Abstract

Barridoff Galleries' annual auction, held yesterday at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland, was attended by more than 300 bidders from around the country. The 4 1/2-hour affair brought in more than $500,000, and resulted in the sale of 307 American and European paintings. A 1951 painting by Maine artist Carl Sprinchorn, "The Hunt Mountains (On the Allagash)," went for $13,200.
