Abstract

Rick Cooper, 48. of Bowdoinham, a systems analyst at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, bought a beehive 15 years ago to help keep his garden thriving. Cooper now owns 40 beehives and an estimated 80,000 honeybees, and is more interested in the bees than the benefit they provide to his garden. He was recently certified as a master beekeeper, the highest honor in the world of apiculture, and is the only master in Maine. Details.
