Abstract

Bids to renovate and expand Portland's three middle schools have come in lower than budgeted, leaving $1,147,819 more to spend on windows, flexible walls and other amenities. The city committee overseeing the project yesterday awarded Ledgewood Inc. of Portland a $4.3 million contract to renovate and add space to Lyman Moore Middle School. Last week a $3.1 million contract for King Middle School was awarded to Russell Nowak Construction of Newcastle, and in August a $2.8 million contract for work on Lincoln Middle School was awarded to Barletta Engineering Corp. of Massachusetts.
