Abstract

Five young people yesterday walked away from the Maine Youth Center, just 12 hours after Portland police arrested three other escapees from the facility. Portland police chief Michael Chitwood questioned security at the facility, which has no fence. Five other Youth Center residents are currently unaccounted for, but Youth Center Superintendent Richard Wyse said the number of escapees is decreasing. Details.
