Abstract

Brief article reporting that a new U.S. Census Bureau study shows that 12,000 out of Maine's 80,000 unmarried women between ages 18 and 44, or about 15 percent, gave birth as of June 1992. The national average for out-of-wedlock births is 23.7 percent.
